ORPDRL Chapter 32

 Episode 32

"Yes! I hear Father-in-law's voice coming from Letty voice! It's so amazing~!"

"Alright, alright! Focus."

Curious about the mechanism, the fairy that caught Letty attention crawled behind the chair and nestled under Grisys's arm.

"Alright, now I'll move the Grand Duke's arm like this, so pretend you're the Grand Duke. Instead of you, it’s the Grand Duke who should reveal that those merchants are swindlers, isn't that right?"

Since Grisys was deeply asleep, he had no idea Letty was using him.

"You’re so clever, Fairy!"

Letty clapped her small hands in admiration of Tinker's wits.

"Hmph! Of course! Among the Twelve Demons serving the Demon King, I was one of the smarter ones."

"Huh? A demon?"

Tinker, who let slip the truth while boasting to Letty, became flustered when Letty tilted her head in confusion. It raised its voice angrily, frowning to divert suspicion.

"What are you doing not speaking up?!"

Demonstrating its own advice to raise one's voice when doubted, Tinker raised Grisys's hand high before Letty could probe its identity.

One of the elders, who had been whispering about Grisys, turned his head in their direction just in time.

"Hm? It seems His Grace has awakened."

With one hand raised, Grisys indeed looked like he was awake to anyone who saw him, but the other elders sneered without even looking at him.

"That can’t be. He always sleeps at official meetings."

"To think that the head of the family, not even in winter, spends his time just sleeping! Even if he’s under the Curse of Sloth, it’s embarrassing to show to others. How can the family head be this lazy?"

'No, Father-in-law isn’t lazy, he’s grieving.'

Overhearing the elder’s words, Letty scrunched her nose in indignation.

Once a hero who brought great glory to the name of Grizzly, Grisys was now a forgotten lord to the elders, who, whenever they gathered, did nothing but criticize the Grand Duke.

Unable to manage the family due to being trapped in endless sleep, the busy Moriel had become the de facto head of the family in the eyes of most elders.

"If it weren’t for Moriel, Grizzly would have collapsed years ago. As an elder of the Grand Duke’s family, how can we ever repay this debt to Polaris?"

Timus, an elder with significant influence among the others, praised Moriel's contributions.

"I already consider myself part of Grizzly. Talking about repaying Polaris is unnecessary, Elder Timus! Hearing that makes me feel hurt."

At Moriel's flattering words, Timus laughed heartily, patting him on the shoulder.

"Haha, that’s right! You’re practically family, being Lady Isilla’s brother."

Watching Moriel and Timus exchange words, Letty cleared her throat with a deliberate cough.

‘How did Father-in-law usually speak?’

While Letty was preparing to mimic Grisys, the lively conversation between Moriel and the elders continued.

“Grizzly is difficult to access, and its reputation isn’t great, so no merchants would visit, no matter how much gold we offered. But Moriel, you really are something else.”

“Hah, was it Moriel who invited the Frode Merchant Guild? How wonderful!”

“To think that they prepared such an incredible gift just to forge a connection with Grizzly. This could be a great opportunity for us to reconnect with the outside world through this guild.”

Encouraged by the elders' praise, Moriel seized the moment and pointed to a painting presented by the guild master, smiling brightly.

“Then we should purchase that painting. Since it was prepared for us, it would be rude to refuse their goodwill, don’t you think?”

As Moriel began to flaunt himself like the head of the family, even involving Lorik, who had just returned from inspecting the goods, he confidently announced his intention to buy the painting from the guild master.

‘Hah, these foolish Grizzlies…’

‘This painting isn’t even a replica of Aliereto’s work. My daughter painted it!’

‘They’ve never left their territory, so they wouldn’t even know Aliereto’s style. Tsk.’

From afar, Letty narrowed her eyes as she caught fragments of the guild master’s voice, as if carried on the wind.

“Fairy, I think I just heard that merchant’s voice in my head.”

Hearing this, Tinker, who had been scripting lines for Grisys, gaped in astonishment.

‘So, it wasn’t just the ability to sense emotions through touch?’

If Letty could also read minds, her supernatural ability as a red panda beastfolk was far beyond even the most powerful attack-type abilities of predator beastfolk.

“…You can hear what that merchant is thinking?”

“Yes! He said the people of the Grand Duke’s family are fools. He’s so mean.”

At Letty’s response, Tinker furrowed her brows.

In this beastfolk world, the rarest known ability so far was the purification ability of Tierra, a panda beastfolk.

Being a healing-type ability, which was already rare, Tierra’s power to dispel curses made her a beloved figure among all.

‘Even if she’s not of the predator type, with an ability this outstanding, Letty’s family could have easily become nobles in the beastfolk world. So why doesn’t the red panda clan exist?’

Letty seemed like nothing more than an ordinary, well-mannered child—hardly a noblewoman.

Moreover, from Letty’s stories, it seemed that her mother worked hard to support their family, suggesting she was the breadwinner.

‘Ah! If only I could communicate with the Demon King, half of these problems would be solved!’

Being merely a book manager and not a caretaker of this world, Tinker was limited in the information it could access.

However, thanks to its earlier mistake of damaging the book, the already short-tempered Demon King had completely ignored Tinker’s attempts to communicate.

‘Looks like the only way is to awaken Letty’s abilities and show them off.’

But first, Tinker had to ensure that Letty secured a position in the Grand Duke’s household.

With a mischievous glint in its eye, Tinker resumed scripting Grisys’s lines for Letty to deliver.

“Lord Moriel, then please sign this document. It’s a contract to purchase the painting.”

At that moment, the impatient Frode began urging Moriel to hurry.
